Why do locally grown flowers matter?

When you need birthday flowers, an anniversary bouquet, baby shower vase bouquets ...

or maybe you're the one responsible to order the anniversary bouquet... probably the first thing you don't think of- "Who grew these flowers?"

But when you know something, you can't NOT know it.

We get excited to cut our very own flowers for special occasion bouquets. Choosing the colors and flowers to put together... Then finding the vase that will work just right, is alot of fun for us. Maybe we'll use that precious dahlia we were saving or the first sweet peas of the season or that juicy shade of ranunculus we have a soft spot for.

There's a certain delight in creating something special that you know is for celebrating an important time in someone's life.

The smiling bride-to-be holding flowers that match her chosen wedding colors, the  sunny flowers that will complement the birthday party- just right for miss 12 year old, and flowers that make her smile bigger when you open the front door on your anniversary evening.

Just thinking about these things make fuzzy feelings go around our heart. We love to make special bouquets!

Real people. Real Flowers.

It is also important to us to grow flowers that haven't been sprayed heavily with pesticides. This means I can allow my children to play among the flowers whenever they want instead of worrying about them getting spray on themselves.

This also means you have my permission to lean in and take a deep sniff of the flowers you receive from Backyard Blooms!

We specialize in growing flowers that are the best fit for the season we're in. This means daffodils & tulips in the spring, sunflowers in the summer, and dahlias in the fall.

This is right when these flowers like to bloom. Each flower in it's own season.

However.

Your other traditional florist relies heavily on the standard mums, roses, and carnations that are imported on an airplane- all without water. This keeps their arrangements predictable for the customer. But keep in mind, they were all dipped in an unfriendly solution before being shipped, so those chemicals didn't just go away!

Fun Fact; Our flowers get stuck in water immediately after we cut them and never get thirsty if we can help it. We aim to cut them at exactly the right moment so you can enjoy them as long as possible.

Real people. Real Flowers.

Whenever you stop by our stand to pick out your flower bouquet... Or place a custom order on our website... Know that there's a real person who is delighted to help you out by arranging a special bouquet that best fits your needs!

AI can't do that. But we can, and we'd be happy to create some floral joy for your life. Take a deep sniff, friend.

Fun fact; we prefer to supplement with flowers from other local growers, just like us, when we need some extra flowers for an occasion. Or like the time our tulips were all eaten up by voles...
